-
Is a team owner limited to 1 team to manage within a shootout?
No. However, there is a limit of 10 teams per manager.
-
If a team owner does purchase more than 1 team will only the
highest placing team be used for scoring purposes?
No. Each team will be scored on an independent basis.
-
Why is there a prize structure?
In the event that less than 12 people play this game or play a
particular shootout, the designer wanted to eliminate the possibility
of surprise in the form of last minute prize structure changes.
The designer has been taken by surprise by other fantasy sites that
changed the prize structure once the season was well underway. The
posting of the prize structure is designed to eliminate that issue.
-
Will a team owner ever compete against more than 11 other teams
for the same prize?
No. All divisions and shootouts are limited to 12 teams.
-
Why is the game structured using 1 week and 9 week shootouts?
With a short duration a team manager can play the game based upon
his/her schedule, not FantasyDriverMatchup’s schedule. If a team
manager can not gain access to a computer for gameplay on a given
weekend, this format prevents the manager from hopelessly falling
behind in a season long competition. He/She can simply opt out of
this game on the affected weekend.
-
Why does FantasyDriverMatchup.com not store credit card information
after processing is completed so that re-entry is not required for
every purchase?
This is to prevent your information from being stored on a long-term
basis. Even though it is cumbersome to enter the information for
each shootout desired, we believe that if we do not store your credit
card information on a long-term basis, it provides better security
for your information. Although we have taken every step possible
to prevent ill-intended persons from gaining access to your information,
we can not issue a statement that guarantees that we would never
be “hacked.” No site can make that statement. This way, if the worst
possible scenario does occur, we can limit your exposure.

-
Why does FantasyDriverMatchup.com prevent or “lock” roster selection
30 minutes prior to the start of a shootout?
This is done to prevent someone from making changes to a roster
after the race has started. There are instances that have occurred
when NASCAR starts a race early, usually due to weather. We are
attempting to make certain that all competitors have the same opportunity
to make roster selections. Also, this limit provides for the finalization
of division sizes to place a maximum of 8 teams in a division.
-
What does the countdown clock mean?
When that clock reaches zero no roster changes or selections can
be made based upon the matchup menu. YOU MUST ENTER AND “SAVE” YOUR
TEAM ROSTER PRIOR TO THE CLOCK REACHING ZERO.
-

disperse your personal information to any other party seeking to
sell you something, “spam” you or mail you information. We feel

driver.

I send it?

than 24 hours from the start of the shootout. See the

-
Is this gambling?
No.
- This is a competition between like-minded people who are
all presumably educated about NASCAR.
- You will not find the use of dice, cards or some other unpredictable
instrument to establish the winner. In order to successfully
compete within this format, research must be performed by the
team manager. Therein lies the argument against this as a form
of gambling; gambling by definition is a chance event. This
competition is not based upon chance. This game requires research
and knowledge about NASCAR and the teams and drivers that compete
within it, thus utilizing knowledge and eliminating chance.
- Not everyone can do this. An uneducated person would not
succeed in this format. A player must possess knowledge about
the sport and know how to utilize that knowledge to create a
team roster of winning drivers.
- This game was designed to remove the “luck or chance” equation
from the results of the game based upon the rules and format
that all team managers must compete within.
- You are not competing with an individual or sportsbook agency
based upon the result of one outcome. You are competing against
other educated fans to score the most points based upon a framework
of rules that everyone who plays must use.
- There are no “odds” or payoffs based upon the result of
one outcome.
- A player drafts a team roster and scores points based upon
that roster.
- This is a vicarious sports experience.
- In conclusion, this game requires the same type of research
that one would use to determine if the purchase of particular
stock is a wise investment. First, one would gain education
and knowledge via research about the company and the type of
business it does. Next, one would gain education and knowledge
via research of similar companies. Finally, one would compare
similar companies to each other to try to determine which company’s
stock represents the best opportunity with the least amount
of risk. One would not invest their money into the stock of
a company without performing this type of comparison research
first. If the research indicates that a particular stock is
a stock that will not increase in value, most people would not
complete the purchase after reaching a conclusion that is negative.
If the research performed indicates that the level of risk is
tolerable when compared to the amount of potential gain one
might obtain from the purchase, then usually one would purchase
stock in a particular company.
The same factors can be applied to this game. If a particular
driver is not a good risk for a particular race when compared
to other drivers, then a team manager would not choose that
driver. The formation of a team roster is based upon the comparison
research of drivers that are in a particular group, or matchup.
The best choice is then made from that grouping, or matchup
of drivers. That is why there are 30 matchups to choose from to
select a team roster consisting of 30 drivers. Therefore, the
legitimate argument can be made that this game is not gambling,
as the rules are not based upon chance. The rules force a team
manager to research each roster selection, via matchup choices,
to assemble a team of drivers for a particular shootout.
