Gameplay Rules:
  1. The game is played based upon the matchup menu found in the "Upcoming Race Matchups" tab.
There you will find the menu of matchups created for the current race shootout. Please be aware that the matchups will not be posted until late Wednesday night.

  2. As a team manager, you must complete and save the entry of your roster/matchup selections prior to the clock on the homepage reaching zero.
The clock will be timed to reach zero approximately thirty (30) minutes prior to the start of the race. Please be sure to perform your research, choose your selections and create/enter your team roster prior to the expiration of the clock. PLEASE BE CONSCIOUS OF THIS CLOCK AND THE AMOUNT OF TIME LEFT ON IT!!!!

  3. You must create your team roster by selecting drivers within the matchups according to the following format:
    1. pick 20 of 20 two-driver matchups,

    2. pick 10 of 10 three-driver matchups

  4. If a team manager has successfully selected the highest finishing driver within a matchup based on the official NASCAR results, the team manager will collect the NASCAR Sprint Cup points allotted to ALL of the drivers competing within that matchup.
If the team manager does not select the highest finishing driver within a matchup, the team manager will only collect the NASCAR Sprint Cup points allotted to the driver picked.

  5. The team manager that collects the most NASCAR Sprint Cup points within the league he/she is competing within will be determined to be the winner of that league.
If there is a tie between managers, the tie breaking questions discussed below will be used to determine the finishing positions.

  6. For 1-race shootout managers, answers must be submitted for the following three (3) tie breaking questions every time that you compete in a 1-race shootout. For managers competing in the 9-race shootouts, these questions will need to be answered only for the last scheduled race of the 9-race shootout.
The manager who answers closest to the race result without providing an answer that is higher than the actual race result, will win the tie breaking question. The tie breaking questions will be used only if there is a tie between prize eligible team managers and will be used to determine the finish order of play for those managers only. If the tie breaking questions are needed to determine the finish order of the players and the first tie breaking question eliminates the tie, then there will not be a need to use the second tie breaking question. If the answer to the first tie breaking question does not eliminate the tie, then the second tie breaking question will be used. If the second tie breaking question does not eliminate the tie, then the third tie breaking question will be used. The three tie breaking questions are listed below:

    1. Name the margin of victory within one-thousandth (0.001) of a second. The team manager closest to this figure without selecting a figure that is more than the actual race result will be determined to be the winner of the first tie breaking question. The margin of victory will be determined by NASCAR and will be based upon the official race results posted by NASCAR. If your figure is higher/larger than the actual race result, your answer will be disqualified.

    2. Provide the number of official lead changes. The team manager that is closest to this figure without selecting a figure that is more than the actual race result will be determined to be the winner of the second tie breaking question. The number of lead changes will be determined by NASCAR and will be based upon the official race results posted by NASCAR. If your figure is higher/larger than the actual race result, your answer will be disqualified.

    3. Give the average speed of the race to the one-thousandth (0.001) of a mile per hour. The team manager that is closest to this figure without selecting a figure that is more than the actual race result will be determined to be the winner of the third tie breaking question. The race speed will be determined by NASCAR and will be based upon the official race results posted by NASCAR. If your figure is higher/larger than the actual race result, your answer will be disqualified.

  7. If there is still a tie after utilizing the three tie breaking questions, then all of the team managers involved in the tie will have their prizes added together and split evenly amongst them.

  8. The car number will be used to calculate matchup results.
This rule is to prevent the last minute scrambling of a team manager if he/she finds out a short time prior to the race that a particular driver is sick, absent or otherwise can not compete.

  9. Points awarded within this game for each matchup will be determined by the official race results provided and verified by NASCAR.
Points will be assigned to drivers based upon the NASCAR Sprint Cup points system. However, FantasyDriverMatchup.com will not calculate bonus points for laps led or most laps led. The game is based upon finish order of the race only. If a car/driver is penalized by NASCAR and the result of that penalty is a loss of positions by that car/driver, then we will use the results posted by NASCAR after the penalty to determine matchup results. In other words, if your selected driver wins the race but for some reason is penalized by NASCAR to last place, then the official NASCAR results will indicate that your driver finished last. This is the result we will use to calculate finish order. We will not deduct for after race penalties. Official results posted by NASCAR dictate the results of our leagues.

*NOTE: The commissioner will ultimately decide which penalty will be applied and which will not. An example of a penalty that will NOT be applied is Dale Jr.'s "S" bomb penalty that cost him and his team 25 points in 2005. That was an after race penalty.

  10. For those competing in a 9-race quarterly challenge or optional winner's challenge, the results from each of the nine races will be cumulatively scored.
The team manager that has scored the most Sprint Cup points after the ninth race will win the 9-race quarterly challenge. In the event of a tie, the tie breaking questions addressed above will be applied. The tie breaking questions will be utilized only for the ninth race of the 9-race quarterly challenge, not the first eight races within the shootout. For the ninth race of the 9-race quarterly challenge, a team manager will have to enter answers to the tie breaking questions listed above. The tie breaking questions will be applied only if there is a tie. If there is still a tie after applying the 3 tie breaking questions, the above example for calculating prizes will also be used for the 9-race quarterly challenge.

  11. The official NASCAR Sprint Cup point system is below.
This is the points system that FantasyDriverMatchup.com will use to calculate the points earned by the drivers competing in the matchups.
    Place# Points   Place# Points   Place# Points   Place# Points   Place# Points
    1 185   11 130   21 100   31 70   41 40
    2 170   12 127   22 97   32 67   42 37
    3 165   13 124   23 94   33 64   43 34
    4 160   14 121   24 91   34 61
    5 155   15 118   25 88   35 58
    6 150   16 115   26 85   36 55
    7 146   17 112   27 82   37 52
    8 142   18 109   28 79   38 49
    9 138   19 106   29 76   39 46
    10 134   20 103   30 73   40 43

*We will not include bonus points for laps led or the most laps led.

  12. If I miss a week, what happens to my points?
You will be awarded points from the Commish team found in your league.

Website Rules:
  1. Divisions are limited to 12 teams, except for the Unlimited League where participation is unlimited.
The Game Commissioner will limit division sizes to 12 teams, however there may be instances where less than 12 teams play. At no time will there be more than 12 teams competing within a division. Please refer to the homepage for information regarding prizes when less than 12 teams compete.

*The Unlimited League is not subject to the 12 team limit. Prizes depend upon participation and will be calculated at 75% of league entrance fees.

  2. A team owner/manager will be limited to a maximum amount of ten (10) teams per shootout.
Remember that this is a game of skill -- you will need to research each matchup to create the most competitive team roster possible for a particular shootout. It is too difficult and time consuming to manage more than ten (10) teams per shootout, therefore the Game Commissioner has created this rule to protect you as a player.

  3. During the registration process, you will be asked to create your user login and choose a password.
Be aware that your login will become your team name. Please try to be original in the naming of your team to avoid duplication of team names. Please note that any offensive, vulgar or otherwise disrespectful team name choices will not be allowed. If your team name is found to be in violation of the rules, you will receive an email to change your team name. Failure to comply with the request will result in a refund of your purchase price and your team registration will be voided. There will be no exception or appeal.

  4. The same menu of matchups will be used for the 1-race shootout, 9-race challenges, the OWC, and the OWS.
A player that has a team in the 1 and 9-race shootouts will see the same menu of drivers for each shootout even though the shootouts are different games.

  5. Matchups will be posted late Wednesday night.

  6. Shootout results will not be available until 7pm EST on the Tuesday evening following the race.
However, in most instances results will be posted Monday morning or right after completion of the race.

  7. You must be at least 18 years of age to compete in this game.

  8. The refund policy is very simple.
No refunds will be allowed if an email request for refund has not been received within six (6) hours prior to the start of the shootout as determined by the clock on the homepage. To request a refund, use the Commissioner Contacts tab on the homepage. Your email must contain your team name, password, full name as it appears on your credit card account, billing address, phone number, credit card number, card expiration date and reason for the refund. If your refund request does not contain all the above criteria, then we will contact you via email to gain the missing information in an attempt to be as flexible as possible in processing your refund request as long as your notification of request for refund has been received within 6 hours of the start of the shootout as described above.

  9. If any error has occurred with your team scoring of matchups and results, please notify us as soon as possible.
We will correct the scoring problem. This is why we do not issue prize checks until 10–14 business days from the date of an event -- we want to make sure that the scoring of the game and the resulting prize payments are accurate. The team owner will have seven (7) days from the posting of results to notify FantasyDriverMatchup.com that there is an issue with the scoring of his/her team. If the error is not presented to FantasyDriverMatchup.com within this time frame, the results of the game as calculated will be deemed to be accurate and final. Please understand that we at FantasyDriverMatchup.com are not perfect. It is inevitable that at some point in our season there may be an error. It is up to each team manager to review his/her final scores immediately upon posting for accuracy. If a problem is found, please notify us via the Commissioner Contacts tab on the home page. Include your team name and be very specific in the description of the problem. We will review your situation immediately, and will respond via email as to our findings. If we rule in your favor, all necessary adjustments will be made. However, if we do not concur with your findings, then we will provide you with further instructions in the event that you may wish to appeal our decision. We have designed our database to eliminate the potential for the errors discussed above. However, one must understand that there is an enormous amount of mathematical calculations that are required for this site to operate. Although highly unlikely, it is possible that an error may occur.
